On the Indonesian island of Pulau Masakut, a pro surfer from Italy, Juliana Manfrini, died at the age of 36. She was attacked by a swordfish that jumped out of the water and struck her in the chest while she was surfing. Two of her friends Julianna, who were present on the beach, provided first aid and took her to a medical point, but the outcome was unsuccessful - the size of the fish's bill was five centimeters. The Italian dreamed of a professional surfing career and the opening of a tourist agency for lovers of active recreation.
In April 2007, the only recorded incident of a swordfish attacking a human in Indonesia resulted in one person's death in a similar manner. Attacks by these fish on humans are extremely rare and frightening.
