Flooding in Bali Due to Heavy Rainfall

Large areas in the southern part of Indonesia's tourist island of Bali, including Legian and Kuta near Denpasar, have experienced continuous heavy rainfall since last Saturday, leading to widespread flooding. The rains caused the water level in the Tukad Mati River to rise and overflow, flooding residential areas and main roads in Legian and Kuta. Floodwaters inundated the main road in Legian, halting traffic, making it difficult to cross even for pedestrians. Emergency teams helped foreign tourists stranded in some hotels and villas in Bali due to rising water levels, with floodwaters reaching 80 centimeters in some parts of the island. The Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency issued a warning for moderate to heavy rains on Bali, increasing the likelihood of continued flooding. Bali's Disaster Management Agency urged residents to exercise caution and heed warnings. The head of the agency, I Gede Budha, stated that residents living along the Tukad Mati River should closely monitor warning sirens and water levels.
