Indonesian authorities have named a suspect in the case of a 12-year-old boy's death, who claimed he was forced to drink boiling water. The incident caused widespread shock in Sukabumi, a city in southwest Indonesia. According to the Jakarta Post, the boy, identified as Nizan Shafi, died on Thursday, February 19. The head of Sukabumi Police, Assistant Commissioner Samian, stated that initial investigations revealed evidence of alleged 'physical and psychological violence'. According to Nizan's statements to the police, his stepfather forced the boy to drink boiling water, leading to severe injuries. An autopsy showed extensive burns, as well as permanent injuries to the lips and nose. The child's internal organs were also damaged due to exposure to hot water, in addition to several injuries from strong impacts to his face.
