The airline union announced the opening of routes to the city of Medan, the gateway north of Sumatra in Indonesia, which enhances tourism and the local economy.

Etihad Airways opens the booking of flights to Medan airport in the northern part of the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The new route will start operating on December 21, 2021. Flights on this route will be conducted weekly using the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft. Flights will be operated in collaboration with the airline Airfast Indonesia. According to the director of commercial at Etihad Airways, this new route opens up convenient access for passengers to the beautiful beach and cultural attractions in northern Sumatra.

Medan will become the tenth destination for Etihad Airways in Indonesia. Flights will be conducted from Abu Dhabi airport. Thanks to this new route, passengers will be able to receive additional transit options in Asian countries and Australia.

"We are pleased to introduce Medan as a new destination in our flight schedule. This will allow our passengers to easily and comfortably reach this beautiful region of Indonesia," noted the representative of the airline.

The new route will contribute to the development of the tourism potential of Medan and northern Sumatra as a whole, as well as strengthen ties between the UAE and Indonesia.
